What a great weekend.....there were some things I experienced that could not have been scripted if I tried!
On Saturday I had such an amazing time with two of my dearest friends from college. We had good food at Cheescake Factory (THE BEST), went for a walk in a beautiful park, and saw the Dallas Cowboys!!? Really, we just happened on them as they were leaving their hotel in Edina, to go to the dome for their game against the Vikings. My friends and I pulled up some chairs outside the hotel (at Starbucks) and enjoyed the view as these cute football players loaded their busses. How random is that?
Yesterday I went to the fair with Susie and we saw some fun things - senior citizens playing fiddles, scientists talking about ashbores, beautful craftwork and many interesting people. (by the way, they put an addictive chemical in Sweet Marths's cookies - just be aware - you won't be able to stop eating them!) The evening ended up with our watching the talent show try outs. The very last adult to do his act was Connor Engstrom.
That name may not seem meaningful, except that his parents were my youth leaders years ago and I remember when he was born! He is an AMAZING guitarist!
I have had so many experiences recently where I'll see young adults or they will approach me and talk to me, only to realize that I have know them since they were small children.....now they are adults settling into their careers. Again, I am getting old! :)
But, God is good and I have a lot to be thankful for. Time will march on and I will age, whether I like it or not.....the scary part is that I'm supposed to be wiser, but it seems I forget things more quickly. Like yesterday, at the fair when a supporter of Alzheimers research gave me directions for filling out a survery on an IPad - if I filled it out, I would be in a drawing for an IPad. Well, I filled my first name in the survey on the IPad, then promptly forgot how to finish! How ironic is that? I just dropped my head and snuck away, realizing that there was probably someone else who should have my shot at the contest....yikes. I'm glad I can still laugh at myself! Blessings!
lots of fun things!
