So I spent my last summer Monday with the Farmington niece and nephews yesterday (sniffle). I love those days so much and the last one signals the start of school! Aaaagh!
Anyway, after a wonderful day and a fun lunch at Perkins, I was driving Jake to my folks' house for his yearly back-to-school shopping trip with grandma. We were talking about school and his opinions about it. After all, he will be a 5th grader this year and he will be the oldest at his school....very important! :)
So he shared with me that a few things needed to change at school. For instance, the day is too long. By the time he gets home, he has to do homework and then go off to sports practice....there isn't enough time to play. The long day is a waste of time - it should be shorter. I then asked if we should cut out lunch, recess and breaks so that he could get home sooner. "Oh, no!", he said. After reviewing the list of daily requirements at school, social studies time appeared to be the best option for cut off.....I don't know what made me smile more - his ideas, or the fact that he was sharing them so freely with A TEACHER! Hee hee! Loved it and love him!
Hey! I know him! ;]
