It has been another full week....so many challenges this year with the kiddos, but they are so worth the effort! I was reminded again today about why I love my job and those I work with. When you have a coworker who talks to you about a student that you both had over 10 years ago - one that she still keeps tabs on and one that we all still want to help out and care about - that is very cool. I was at a meeting where it was stated that our kids succeed, because "this is what we do". There isn't a whole lot of room for compromise at my school - we want what is truly best for our students and we don't compromise - even when it gets really tough. One of my coworkers shared a timely quote with me today: "working here is like driving a car with a flat tire and trying to change it while you are moving"....but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Last night I came upon a wonderful privilege. I had had a LONG day and was up for vegging out at home, but decided to go to a new Bible study at my church. Due to a miscommunication, there was nobody to watch the infants/toddlers in the nursery. Since I know that the timing of this study is to help parents of young kids attend where they have childcare, and one of the toddlers was my nephew, I volunteered to cover it. There were three precious little boys under my care during the study. I wasn't sure if I'd have the energy to do it after my long day, but what a time I had. What a privilege to care for God's little ones. They are so funny, cute, loving, etc. Just what I needed! I am borrowing a pic of my nephew from my sister-in-law (attached), so you can see why it wasn't too hard for me to agree to cover the nursery when he was one of my charges.
Blessings!
